Charging Your Electric Car At Home

Electric car charger

Electric & Hybrid cars or EV’s are becoming more of a smart buy. With charging points becoming more common across the country it’s become easier to top up but what about having a full charge?

Why A Home Charging?

None of us have enough time to sit at a charging point waiting for our car to charge. Of course, you can charge from the mains at home, but this takes roughly 6-9 hrs, and as a long term solution this is not recommended. A specially designed at home charging point could be the answer.

Easy to get installed and up to 2.5x faster than a 3-pin plug set up, a home charger point can have you from flat to full in 3.5 hrs.

How Much Does It Cost To Charge My EV?

Depending on your tariff on average it will cost 10p per kWh, which means that works out as little as 2p per mile, saving £1000 a year compared to petrol. Dedicated EV charging points charge your electric vehicle at 3.7kW or 7kW giving about 15-30 miles of range per hour of charge (compared to 2.3kW from a standard plug socket which provides up to 8 miles of range per hour).

A smart meter will also help you keep track of your usage through the week and you can get a better idea of how much your EV costs for you.
